Mehrtash Mohit is an award winning Iranian Canadian writer/director based in Toronto.

He holds an M.F.A from York university.  He views filmmaking as the only method that can satisfy his curiosity about human emotions and interactions. His films are the product of his reflections on seemingly mundane yet nuanced struggles that people grapple with throughout life.

Mehrtash is also an alum of the coveted Canadian Film Center director's lab.

Mehrtash Mohit is an award-winning Iranian-Canadian writer and director based in Toronto. He holds an MFA in Film Production from York University and is an alumnus of the Canadian Film Centre Directors’ Lab.
 

His work explores human relationships, moral consequence, and displacement through intimate, character-driven storytelling.

Mehrtash’s films have screened internationally and received recognition at major festivals, including NYCSHORTS, Yorkton Film Festival, Images Festival, and TIFF-affiliated programs.

is recent short Finding Shelter was produced with support from all three major Canadian arts councils and is currently on the festival circuit.

In 2024, Mehrtash was selected as one of ten promising Canadian filmmakers by the Irving Avrich Fund at Toronto International Film Festival.

He is currently developing his debut feature film A Simple Solution, supported by the Canada Council for the Arts.
